A Catchment Area Guide to Secondary Schools in and around Holloway

Holloway has some of the best secondary schools to offer in North London. If you are a parent thinking of moving to the area, good schooling will no doubt be one of your main priorities. The Bridge School

Located on Hungerford Road, N7 9LD, The Bridge school was rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted during its last inspection. It has 192 pupil places and is responsible for managing its own admissions (some referrals with exceptional circumstances are made by the local authority).

Catchment area

The Bridge is close by to Caledonian Road underground station, so this is a good place to search if you think this is the right school for your child. There are a good variety of properties available nearby, with 4-bedroom terraces going for around £1.3 million and 3-bedroom flats for £750,000.

The Camden School for Girls

The school sits on Sandall Road, NW5 2DB, and admits 120 girls, with a distance of 1.32 miles being the furthest away a pupil was offered a place by the school in 2020. Ofsted rated the school as ‘outstanding’ and it is generally seen as one of the best schools in the area. It is highly sought after so you should apply as early as possible.

Catchment area

The Camden School for Girls is surrounded by residential streets, offering great value for the location. For example, a 3-bedroom apartment on Holmes Road around only 12 minutes’ walk from the school sells for around £900,000. A 3-bedroom maisonette on Highgate Road, only 5 minutes’ drive away, will cost £400,000 and upwards.

Highbury Fields School

Highbury Fields School is located on Highbury Hill, N5 1AR. 140 new admissions are made every year, which are managed by Islington council. The school was rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted, and the last pupil admitted under the distance criterion in 2020 lived just over 0.9 miles away.

Catchment area

Living a short distance from Highbury Fields school will put you close to the beating heart of Highbury & Islington, with Highbury Corner only a short distance away. You could invest in a large terraced house for £1.8 million on Witherington Road a few minutes away, or some of the many flats and apartments that regularly appear on the market. Drayton Park tube is also just around the corner from the school.

Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School

The school is on Donegal Street, N1 9QG, and received an ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted. 180 pupil spaces are available each year, with Islington council in charge of processing applications. Under the distance criterion, the last pupil admitted in 2020 lived 1.03 miles away.

Catchment area

With Angel tube station only a few minutes away, there is a great selection of modern apartments and terraced houses on sales nearby. 3-bedroom period terrace prices start at around £1.1 million, and great value modern flats available for over £600,000.
